Cllr Tom Munro, Chair of Whitwell Parish Council said, “It is with great sadness that I learnt today of the death of Prince Philip.
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was an outstanding public servant who gave his life to the service of the Country and also the Commonwealth, and communities across the district will be saddened by this news.
The Union Flag at the District Council offices is already flying at half-mast, and will continue to do so until 8am on the day after the funeral.
Unfortunately, in order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions in place, and to reduce the risk of transmission, Books of Condolence will not be available in public buildings for people to sign in person. Members of public are also respectfully requested not to lay flowers or other memorial items/mementoes.
A Book of Condolence is available online at the royal website: https://www.royal.uk/
May he rest in peace.”
